For this series, interstitial memory, I culled pages from Gray’s Anatomy—already visceral and cerebral and delicate—tearing and placing them within hand-stitched pieces of stained, re-waxed wax paper. Envelopes—coated, sutured—with both sides softly visible as if seen through the diffuse membrane of memory, these pieces are secured in space by the completion of a circle, the protection of wax, and the weight of steel. Talismans for the future, they are also roots to the past.
